What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a new type of coronavirus.
Most people who get COVID-19 will have mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. However, older people and those with health problems like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, and cancer are more likely to get very sick.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, it’s important to stay informed about the virus and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others by:
- Washing your hands often or using hand sanitizer
- Avoiding touching your face
- Keeping a distance of 6 feet from others
- Wearing a mask when you can’t maintain social distance
COVID-19 spreads mainly through droplets from the nose or mouth when an infected person coughs or sneezes. So, practice good hygiene like coughing into your elbow.
