Health Education

The Webster County Health Unit Education Department is dedicated to fostering healthier communities through prevention, health promotion, and intervention. Our current initiatives include:

Child Care Health Consultation

The Webster County Health Unit recognizes the significance of quality childcare in a child’s development. Our Health Unit is eager to collaborate with childcare facilities to offer comprehensive consultation, training, and resources through our Child Care Health Consultation Program. This program serves childcare providers, families, and children, ensuring access to essential services. Most offerings are available at no cost through the health unit.

Clock-hour Training

Training is arranged for childcare providers to improve their knowledge of healthy and safe practices. Training clock hours are awarded to staff and meet the 12 clock hour requirements approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Distracted Driving

The Webster County Health Unit is working to reduce distracted driving through education, awareness, and intervention programs. Our initiatives aim to inform the community about the dangers of distracted driving and promote safe driving behaviors. We collaborate with local schools, businesses, community organizations, and the Department of Motor Vehicles in Webster County to spread the message and encourage everyone to stay focused on the road.

Key strategies to combat distracted driving include:

  • Implementing educational campaigns to raise awareness about the risks associated with distracted driving.
  • Promoting the use of hands-free devices and other technologies that minimize distractions.
  • Encouraging parents and guardians to set a good example by avoiding distractions while driving.

Interventions to Reduce Suicide

The Webster County Health Unit provides essential resources and training to support mental health and prevent suicide in our community. We offer programs and classes, like Youth Mental Health First Aid and Question. Persuade. Refer. (QPR) designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to address mental health challenges and intervene in crisis situations.
